QUESTION 3 - WHAT HAVE YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR AUDIENCE FEEDBACK?
To go about gaining audience feedback, we carried out an audience interview & gathered comments via social media websites such as Facebook & Twitter.
With the feedback we gained, we were able to determine a wide array of reactions & thoughts on our trailer & other content we've created, i.e. the Poster & Magazine cover.

TRAILER FEEDBACK
Our Interview, as seen below, followed the traditional audience questionnaire format, with multiple candidates sat before a camera answering questions related to the feedback we desired. From the feedback we gained a useful backlog of info which we will later use to improve further upon our trailer.
From analysing the feedback we gained from our audience questionnaire, we gathered that our trailer's editing & voice-over were the most appealing parts of how we built our trailer.
When it comes to the trailer's contents, we learned that the props & weapons we chose to include & for the killer to have were all well-picked as our candidates thought they were mostly unique to the horror genre, and that they were appropriate with how our killer appears via his clothing & attitude. We also learned that we effectively conveyed through our trailer that the film's genre was "torture" & "psychotic slasher". Knowing this, we are confident our trailer's format was correctly built to portray what we wanted to convey. The reactions we got from audiences were what we had hoped we would gain, in that our trailer takes large inspiration from films & shows such as Saw & Dexter. We have taken into consideration that our trailer's pacing & how the shots were edited didn't accurately convey a flowing story or plot. However some candidates believe this is a good thing as it left them wanting more from the few scattered sneak-peaks they'd seen through our trailer. When asking whether or not our candiates would see our film in cinema's, and what they would rate the trailer out of 10 compared to AAA film trailers in the box-office, the answer's we gained were very appealing, but also gave us the motivation to improve further. |
Candidate 1[Liam Ednie], Candidate 2[Jack Woodard]
Q1: Did you like our trailer? Rating out of 10? Liam: "I really enjoyed it. I'd give it an 8 or 9" Jack: "Very much, I really like the editing & voice-over. I'd say a 9" Q2: Did you like the props used? Liam: "Yeah, they're different. They're not in conventional horror trailers you see today" Jack: "I loved the hacksaw. It fits well with the 'deranged surgeon' persona that the killer has" Q3: What was our trailer's sub-genre? Liam: "Psychotic slasher" Jack: "Torture or psychotic slasher, due to the deranged surgeon theme & how knifes, saw's & needles were only used" Q4: Could you determine a story from our trailer? Liam: "No, but thats what I liked about it. It reminded me of 'Seven's OTS, where multiple events occur out of order, leaving you wanting more" Jack: "I gathered that the crazy surgeon, prior to the films events, had been tipped over the edge by something drastic, and so now he kills to fuel his desires" Q5: Would you see our film in Cinema's? Liam: "Yeah I would, it looked really good" Jack: "Yeah, the trailer really enticed me. The engaging plot & voice-acting was pretty intriguing to me" |
MAGAZINE & POSTER FEEDBACK
The below images are our finished Poster & Magazine cover for our Media A2 Trailer, Last Aid. Upon completing them to how we as a group saw them to be their best, we asked others to offer their thoughts & feedback on both the poster & magazine cover, so that we might improve in the future.
Primarily, we went about a written questionnaire, similar to our trailer questionnaire, but via word-of-mouth due to ease of access & to directly record a backlog of useful info.
We carried this out to determine how people liked & disliked aspects of our poster & magazine, of which we will then use that knowledge to further improve them in the future. For feedback, we asked people at a variety of places, such as our own school 6th form, which included both student feedback & teacher feedback. Below are the comments in regards to the poster & magazine cover respectively, with student feedback & teacher feedback seperated. Candidate 1[Liam Ednie], Candidate 2[Kyle Dimond], Candidate 3[Jack Woodard] Liam: Good work sticking to the theme with the colour and layout with the titles and sub heading. Kyle: Jack: Candidate1[Mr.Babbage], Candidate 2[Mr.Edwards], Candidate 3[Mrs.Wisbey] Babbage: Edwards: Wisbey: |
SOCIAL MEDIA [FACEBOOK] FEEDBACK
Gathering feedback & criticisms from outside our own Media environment allowed us to get an outisde view on what our trailer and poster & magazine cover did particularly well and/or didn't do too well.
As much as it may be unreliable feedback that we gained, seeing as the commenters may not be well-versed in what makes an effective poster & magazine, it is the public that are naturally targeted when posters, magazines & adverts are being created.
Due to this, we took the below comment & criticisms to heart, and will make sure to make appropriate changes in the future.

WHAT HAVE WE LEANRED OVERALL?
After carrying out multiple questionnaires & gathering multiple criticisms via our own Media environment & outside via social Media (such as Facebook), we have compiled an appropriate list of what we confidently succeeded in, and what can be improved to make the most effective form advertisement that our trailer, poster & magazine cover can be.
